  • Museum of the History of Science

    Located on Oxford’s Broad Street, the Museum of the History of Science - also known as Old Ashmolean building - came about in 1683 and was built especially to house the collection of Elias Ashmole, which makes it the first ever purpose-built museum, which was also open to the public.     Established in 1458, Magdalen College was founded by - the Bishop of Winchester and Lord Chancellor – Lord William Waynflete. It is one of the constituent institutes of Oxford University, and besides its striking architecture, it is noted for its big grounds, which also includes a deer park and ‘the Meadow’ which is triangular in shape and is located on the east of the College. It also has a chapel and the Magdalen Tower, which was built by William Orchard between 1492 and 1509; though both were built during the same time frame, the latter one is an imposing structure and is a well known Oxford Landmark.
